The Beauty of Hell...

Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - also known as my personal life motto!

All Human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Who I am...

I am a wife. I am a mother. I am a survivor.
My family has made me who I am...my past family with past hurts...my current family with current joy.
Family is something you are born into and cannot choose,
family is also what you choose it to be once you are old enough to start anew...

Sunday Confession: I'm a Card Carrying Liberal, Bleeding Heart, Lesbo and Fag Loving Left-Wing Socialist!

Have you ever had someone call you something, usually they are trying to "insult" you; but when they say it...well, you can't help but feel a bit of pride?  The above statement was used on me a few days ago, and I'm proud to say - it's all true, I guess; at least from the person's perspective that said it.  I'm totally "Okay" with being perceived as "a card carrying liberal, bleeding heart, lesbo and fag loving; left-wing Socialist" because if that is what THIS person thinks of me; then it means they see me as the opposite of them - and that makes me rejoice!

I wonder, is this a phenomenon that only occurs in California?  Or have you found yourself being "insulted" by someone and then thinking, "Actually, that sounds good; yeah, I'm fine with that!"?  I'm curious to see.

  1. I lean towards the conservative side, and since I live in the South, I fit right in. So if anyone called me conservative, I'd think yeah, I'm all right with that. However, don't call me judgmental, because I''m not. It's not my job!

  2. Oh yeah. Conservatives love to insult us liberals. Ann Coulter of Fox News refers to liberals as "People who live in mom and dad's basement."

Her statements make me so mad. I am a middle-class single American male who supports himself on a 40-hour a week job with good benefits. I own a car, I pay all my bills, pay my taxes, etc. Yet she has the audacity to fling insults in my face.

That's just the way the Republican conservatives are.

  3. I get that sometimes. Sometimes I'm told I'm "so Canadian." Meaning: I'm too nice, too polite, too liberal, too giving. Well, yes, I am and I'm proud of it. (I'm a Canadian who married an American and now I'm living with him in the Mid-West. Not many people of the same mind here, but we're lucky to live in the one city in the whole state that is liberal!)

  4. I always try to wear insults proudly. It means people are listening. Experience has shown me that certain folks hurl insults because they're afraid and can't defend their positions logically or articulately.

  5. I do get called a smart ass quite a bit. What can I say? It's so true.

  6. Someone told me I had a quasi-bizarre outlook on life once, which is one of my faves. Bitch makes me feel warm and fuzzy, too.

  7. I've been insulted in my life several times where my response was honestly 'yeah, and ...?'. Takes the wind right out of their sails :-)

  8. Nobody ever insults me... to my face. Or perhaps I'm just not listening to them. More likely the latter.
